_IAP8989Blogger. Novelist. Student doctor. Husband. Health freak. Nature-lover. That’s me.

You might not think you know me, but unless you’re new to the blog (which is great: welcome!), we’ve met before. I’ve been writing for WellnessFX since last August and have brought you testimonials, health news, exciting updates, and button-preserving recipes to get you through the holidays alive. So, yeah – we’ve met.

I’ve long been interested in health, fitness, and writing and I landed the perfect opportunity of contributing to the WellnessFX’s media team shortly after sending off my applications for medical school. I’ll be attending the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the fall. I’m truly excited about taking what I’ve learned about preventive medicine during my time with WellnessFX and applying it in my professional career.

Now that we’ve been formerly introduced, I have a story to share. It’s time for my draw. This is the WellnessFX experience. Uncensored and uncut.

Up until 2009, Natalie lived a sedentary lifestyle. She sat at work, she sat in her car, and when she got home everyday she sat some more in front of the television. All this inactivity caught up with her in the form of unsightly weight gain. It was time for a change!

Natalie started small: one yoga class a week. Gradually, however, fitness became an integral part of her lifestyle. In fact, she benefitted so much from exercise and healthy living that she wanted to share the great feeling with others. As a health coach and a certified personal trainer, she now dedicates her time to teaching others how to “assess their health, develop goal-setting skills, and find pleasure in healthy activities to make positive change so that they may live the lives they desire.”

Recovering From Cancer with WellnessFX Annual Check-up

One of the hardest journeys a person can be forced to take is a fight against cancer. Depending on the type, the survival rate in American can be pretty good when caught early, but the treatments are devastating for the body. Chemotherapy sessions, surgeries, and therapy can all take their toll.

Though many people think of the disease as one for the elderly, cancer can be surprising and devastating for people of any age. Ping, pictured above, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 2 cancer six months ago. Lymphoma is a cancer of the white blood cells, which are responsible for a broad range of immune responses in the body (i.e., they help to keep us from getting sick). Cancer is usually classified in four different stages depending on how much the diseased has progressed. For lymphoma, Stage 2 means that two or more lymph node regions are affected. This can be especially dangerous because the lymph nodes are like a highway for the rest of the body: once the cancer gets here, it can hitch a ride in the blood stream and plant itself in different organs.

Another great month at WellnessFX! We had an awesome Fireside Chat with Tim Ferriss and Dr. Justin Mager, we opened up in Michigan, and we were named one of the top health apps by Greatist.

Most importantly, we’ve continued offering awesome services to our members. We take feedback very seriously and are grateful to have such a smart, vocal community. All feedback is shared with the entire WellnessFX staff, from engineers to bloggers to even the CEO himself. This encourages everyone to push towards great new ways of putting healthcare back in the hands of the patient. As a bonus, it also encourages and reminds us of WellnessFX’s awesome impact!

Every month we like to share member experiences to give a clear picture of what it’s like working with WellnessFX. We not only offer a broad variety of biomarker testing, but also personal consults with some of the top experts in the field.

WellnessFX consults are more than a regurgitation of the results you see on your computer screen or a re-packaging of information found on Wikipedia. Our practitioners review your test results and questionnaire before the consult. The WellnessFX platform has basic information on the biomarkers tested along with what your numbers mean, so you and your practitioner can jump right into the best way to seek improvements given your lifestyle and priorities.

WellnessFX practitioners:

  1. Are either MDs, certified dietitians, certified personal trainers, or naturopathic physicians.
  2. Look over your results beforehand to maximize your time.
  3. Are focused on prevention and getting to the root of the cause.
  4. Prefer natural solutions over medications.
  5. Compile notes and supply personalized written recommendations that are posted to your dashboard for later reference.
