In a statement released by Quest Diagnostics, the company recently incurred a hack that exposed the personal health information of about 34,000 people. While their system has been affected, we want let you know that WellnessFX data and systems were not.
When Quest Diagnostics discovered the intrusion, it immediately addressed the vulnerability. Also according to Quest Diagnostics:
- Quest is taking steps to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future, and is working with a leading cybersecurity firm to assist in investigating and further evaluating the company’s systems.
- The stolen data did not include Social Security numbers, or any credit card, insurance or financial information. The data exposed encompassed names, dates of birth, lab results and, in some cases, telephone numbers.
- There was no indication that any of the information had been misused and that all the people affected have been notified
- There is a dedicated toll-free number to call with questions regarding this incident. The number is (888) 320-9970, and can be reached Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
The individuals affected were when an unauthorized third party accessed the MyQuest by Care360® internet application. As a third-party service that strives to meet and exceed HIPAA guidelines, we have no reason to believe that any of our WellnessFX customer data was compromised.
Be assured that our engineers have assessed for impact on our systems and none appear to have been affected, due to security measures we have in place.
Our top priority has been and will remain to keep your data 100% private and secure.
