At WellnessFX, we like to think we embody the word. In a year’s time we’ve brought trackable wellness to thousands across America. We continue to expand, both in geography and in customizability (our new Performance Panel, for instance!). Yes, innovator is definitely a label we wear proudly.

It’s nice to see we’re not the only ones who think so.

The Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) received 300 nominations from the public at the end of 2012 to honor companies tackling America’s health problems head-on in their annual Business Achievement Awards issue. From those, WellnessFX was selected for the Innovation Award. The recognition came with a full write-up in NBJ, featuring an exclusive interview with WellnessFX CEO Jim Kean.

Here’s the full article for your reading pleasure. If you’re short on time, check out the nice little summary of key points right below.

WellnessFX Innovation Award

  • Before: Prior to WellnessFX, it was extremely difficult for the lay-patient to get access to cutting edge biomarkers. You’d have to make an appointment with your doctor, beg for a deeper panel, and then find someone willing to explain what everything means, and how to improve. Good luck being able to afford all that!
  • Now: “WellnessFX not only opens up medicine to greater competition and pricing pressure, but it begins to truly legitimize supplementations as a productive health regimen.”
  • Expansion: According to our CEO, WellnessFX is set to be open nationwide early into this year. That’s right, that’s 50 states, plus Washington, DC. So for all those eagerly waiting for WellnessFX to hit your town, it won’t be much longer!
  • Integration: If you’ve been following our blog, you know we read your feedback. One of the biggest complaints we’ve received so far is WellnessFX’s lack of supplements, especially since 90% of consults lead to supplement recommendations. CEO Jim Kean told NBJ that we’re poised to announce a partnership with a supplement wholesaler this Q1. Exciting, huh?
  • Prediction: With success, efficiencies of scale will drive lab costs down. Combine this with the trend for technology to become cheaper and more accessible with time, and NBJ can “picture WellnessFX as a real democratizer of healthcare with kits inside Walmart for $60 a pop.” Wow!

We are grateful to NBJ for the award, and for the fans who nominated us! Here’s to an awesome 2013 of knowledge, accessibility, and wellness!
